i just recently got a used macbook (1st gen) core duo 13.3", and when i close/open the lid it doesnt go to sleep or wake up(i have to manually put it to sleep and push a key to wake it up) last night i took off the screen bezel and noticed that the magnet is missing, does anyone know where i could get one, or would i be able to just use any old magnet that fits in there?

You can't use just any magnet. Go to iFixit: The free repair manual and have your model number on hand. I'm not sure if they stock those magnets or not.
