I attempted to repair permissions on my friend's 2.0 GHz MacBook and the process stalls out with 1 minute remaining (approximately 90% complete) every time. I tried using the Disk Utility installed on the machine itself and running it from the OS disk (Snow Leopard) with the same result. Any ideas? Thanks!

I would try running it with OnyX and see what the result is there.
Download OnyX for Mac - OS X maintenance & optimization tool. MacUpdate.com
Be sure to download the correct version.

Failing that, I would boot from the install disc and verify/repair disk.

Please post back with the results.

I did the verify/repair from the boot disc, no issues. I also ran a hardware test, no problems. I will try Onyx.
