I just priced AppleCare for my 13" MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone 4. My savings are $39, $23 and $5, respectively. Is this legitimate? Does anyone out there have experience with or knowledge of AppleCare purchased through Amazon.com? Even my local Apple dealer doesn't discount AppleCare. TIA.

Pretty sure it's legit if it's on Amazon, they don't sell counterfeit stuff.

I suppose so long as it is sold by the Amazon and not a third party through Amazon.
I am talking from UK point of view. I am sure still Amazon should and will take the responsibility as quoted above. Be prepared to write letters if fail to oblige?

Yes, it's legitimate and genuine Apple Care. Many resellers offer Apple Care at a discounted price including military exchanges, some school book stores, and several on line resellers such as Mac Mall.

Just make sure it is a legitimate seller. I didn't have any problems with buying apple care from Amazon for my MBP - the registration worked fine and it did save a bunch of money.
