I'm about to swap to an SSD in my Macbook, but i'm not looking forward to reinstalls one bit - it will take me a few days as I got ~100G of programs plugins and data libraries to install - it's a long process that I know all too well. Looking for some shortcuts.
Just wondering - if I clone my iMac's HD onto the new SSD for the Macbook, can I expect OSX to run without hiccup, or will the transfer cause problems of it's own? Last edited by bobtomay; 12-05-2010 at 07:14 AM. Reason: removed masked word |

Use cloning software - SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to make a copy of the MacBook hard drive on to the new SSD. Swap out the drives and you should be up and running in no time.
Copying your iMac's HD to the SSD to use in the MacBook is not going to work. Different hardware. |
