I am using the gfxstatus on my 2010 macbook pro 15" i5. It is currently on "Intel only" mode which prevents the nvidia 330m from kicking in while on battery power. I am wondering how I would know when to actually use the nvidia 330m? Will certain programs that require it not work properly while using the built-in graphics? Any answers will be well appreciated.

Download gfxCardStatus which will allow you to select which graphic card you want to use and when.

Programs will function on either. Ones that need more graphics power will just run slower or choppy.
