Firstly, I'd like to add this disclaimer that my intentions here are not to start another thread that follows the same conversation:
My Macbook has problem X. How do I fix?
Take it to the Apple Store.
I don't have Apple Care.
Should've bought Apple Care
But this is just an issue I generally would like to know more about and it seems (after reading 100 of these threads) that any technical information on Apple's logic boards is reserved to a very select and secret underground society. I have already decided to pay the fee for a replacement, but I'm still left with this question: Why do these logic boards fail?

Particularly, I have not been able to understand why my Macbook Pro decided to kill itself. I had not experienced any problems what so ever until the other night. I powered it down, put it in my bag, came home, and it would not start. The battery had a full charge. MagSafe port was fine. The white LED in the front turned on for a second. Holding in the power button, it would stay on a little longer, the disc drive would make some noise like it was starting up, and then nothing. The Genius Bar told me my problem was with the logic board.

Most of the reports that I've read from other people can give some explanation to their logic board failing (spilling liquid into it, etc). If nothing else, they at least catch their logic board failing. But I just can't see any logical reason why my logic board (irony for ya) would fail so unexpectedly like this. Are they really that fragile? I am almost in disbelief that it could just go like that. It was in a protective case inside my bag along side another Toshiba laptop I was carrying. Wouldn't a dead logic board rend my Macbook completely dead? It's just ridiculously unsettling to accept the fact that it just died in the span of 3 hours for no apparent reason, considering the absurd amount of money it cost.

EDIT:
You've got to be kidding me. Literally 5 seconds after I posted this thread, I tried to start up my MBP for fun.... and... it started. Completely fine. I was just at the Apple store today. . . please, somebody explain this.
