Hi,
Yesterday I found that the keyboard and trackpad of my MacBook have suddenly stopped working. I know that the keyboard was correctly working atleast 10 min before that. The LED of CapsLock too does not turn on. I can still use an external USB mouse (does that mean that the USB drivers are OK?).

[Edit: I now remember that just before things went dead, I had disconnected an external USB drive from the system without properly ejecting it. Also, I had just finished using a USB modem. Don't know if these details are relevant]

For a few days now, I have been noticing that the battery is bulging out of its compartment. Can that be the cause? On searching little bit, I found that bulging battery can cause trackpad to act funny but in my case both keyboard and trackpad are competely dead.

What options do I have?
I have not tried any solutions yet (and have not yet approached Apple support).

Thanks for any advice !

A bulging battery is dangerous. You should not be using your MacBook with a battery that's bulging or swelling as that can severely damage the interior of the machine. If your MacBook is still under warranty, make an appointment with Apple and have them look at it. Even if it's not under warranty, take it on in.

It's possible that the battery has caused damage to the keyboard, that's why it's important not to use the machine in that condition. Also, I would remove the battery from the machine - don't leave it in as that may make matters worse.
