I am interested in a hard case, such a Pelican, to carry a 17" Macbook Pro, including a real mouse and preferably a real keyboard.

What have you found in that type of case that could hold all those items? Or is there such a thing as a good case for a full keyboard?

Do some Googling on line for a retailer that sells hard cases with inlaid foam that can be shaped and fitted to adopt for use. We would buy them in the electronic repair business to use for carrying expensive electronic repair instruments such as a Wave Analyzer. A case like that might be a bit heavy to carry around but I guaranty it will provide maximum protection for your MBP and keyboard\mouse.

The Pelican case you mentioned in post #1!

That's your point of reference...and would give us a point of reference to know what you're looking for. Maybe someone has something similar to the Pelican (but is not familiar with the Pelican product).

That's why a link would help us to help you!
