Hi, I have a new macbook pro and my son just brought one. When his came from B&H Photo the hardrive icon does not show up on the desktop but does show up under the finder. Does it matter if the hardrive does not show on desktop? And where would it be. I do not have his computer with me right now.

If you want the icon on the desktop, open Finder and go to Preferences (Finder > Preferences). In the General section, look under "Show these items on the desktop." Check "Hard disks" to have your HD show up on the Desktop.
