Hey Guys!

I'm currently saving up for a New MacBook (white) since my year old one has been water damaged. I went to the Mac store and they said it would cost £700 to get it repaired. A new one for me (student discount) would be around £750. So I gathered I may aswell get a new one.

I've got the old one, and it runs any linux distro with ACPI disabled (power managment).

I will keep the Mac as it is really powerful, that is unless there is any way apple will exchange it for a discount? I heared they used to do this on working and non working macs, but I havn't found anything suggesting they do that anymore. Also, if they do will they also put this discount with my student discount?

If not, no worries, I'll just have a Linux-Mac and a OSX Mac too!! I just gathered that if I could get rid for a good price then I would. Spares wise, its not worth much (case and moniter) so its not worth doing that.

Thanks guys!!

As far as I know, Apple does not have a "trade in" policy for older machines or one that isn't working. Best bet is to sell your water damaged MacBook on eBay for parts. You may be surprised at what you can get for it.

Regards.

Apple does have a "Recycling Program"...where you can get an Apple gift card for the value of a computer.

Apple Recycling Program

This program is handled by a company Apple works with called "PowerON". I went thru the process, and in this case (with a non-working water-damaged MacBook)...it has Zero value.

So like "chscag" mentioned...your best bet is to try to sell your MacBook on e-Bay or Craig's List as a "parts computer".

Sorry...good luck
