Hi, i'v recently purchased a early 2010 MacBook Pro and have had it for about a month now and it seems that whenever i leave it idle for 5-30 mins the entire display freezes (Including the mouse)and wont respond to any thing i do. I simply have to force shut down the computer and restart it. This strange anomaly has been happening for the last two weeks or so and i have no idea why. Theres no predicting when it freezes, but it just does. The backlight wont turn on. The track pad wont respond and it wont go into screen saver mode. It just stays frozen on a dim screen. Can anyone shed some light on this situation? it would be greatly appreciated.

Visit your local Apple Store & have them look at it...or ship it back to Apple for repair if you don't have a local store.

There's no need messing around trying to figure it out when it's covered under warranty.

Hi,
I bought a Macbook Pro 17" i7 8Gb 4 weeks ago and have been plagued with freezing issues. Apple support said they had never heard of this issue!!!
After repairing the drive and re-installing the Op system the problem still exists. It has happened using I-photo, Aperture and Final Cut Express and often when it goes into sleep mode it will not come out. Apple Support refered me to my Apple store and they are to replace ALL the internal components then test it. I hope it will fix things but I am not convinced.
If I knew about this issue beforehand I would not have bought one.

There's always going to be faulty equipment come of a production line, regardless of the company or the equipment, so just keep on it, and if Apple can't repair it, they will give you a new Machine.

Hi,

Just an update on my Macbook pro issue.
Apple store replaced all the internals in my notebook with the exception of my hard drive. So far, so good. No freezing. Well done apple.

Cheers

Alex
