I have had nothing but problems with a 14" ibook g4 with the 1.4something ghz processor in it. Most of ya'll know what i'm talkin about. I have a mac mini and basically sent an image of the mac mini through disk utility to the ibook g4 and then fooled it by immediately booting from the tiger disk and upgrading and making it think it had everything right. I've had to do this again (twice in one day) and I just want to make sure this will work. My dad's a computer admin, but he works chiefly with windows and he's the one who came up with this idea the first time, but It hasn't worked twice in a row. Has anyone ever had to do this or come across a problem like this.

Does anyone know any other ways to get a functional os on this computer without the system disks? I need this computer in less than two weeks for college. I'm really worried it's not going to be working.

No way around it. Buy a Tiger set from eBay or Craig's list if you can find one. Just make sure it's the retail set (black) as the others which are model specific will not work.

I have the black osx 10.4 tiger disk. you said the model specific ones won't work? Because then that would make things way easier if I could just skip those.

If you have the black retail Tiger DVD, then that's all you need to install Tiger on your iBook. Just make certain that the Tiger DVD you have is the PPC version.

Don't you need to have the silverdisks though? because my dvd is an upgrade dvd I think.

The black retail version of Tiger is a full install version as far as I know. (If that's what you really have.) Why do you think it's an upgrade? Did you have an original set of gray silver install disks for the iBook?

Have you tried to install Tiger with the black disk you have?

Regards.
