Hi guys,

I had a post a few days on my PB G4 and that it wouldn't boot. I'm thinking now that the lower memory slot is bad since this model has been known to have these problems. It beeped 3 times and the sleep light blinked 4 times and I looked it up and it is a memory bank problem. The chips I have are 2 256 MB RAM chips. I have a few questions concerning this.

1. Since it has only 256 MB in the upper slot and the lower one I presume is not working, would I have to remove the lower slot in order for the computer to turn on, even if I changed out the top one to 1 GB?

2. With only 256 MB of RAM and Leopard needs 512 MB, I presume that the machine can't boot up all the way. Is this true?

3. Would buying a 1 GB chip and leaving the lower slot empty most likely solve the problem?
