I'm using the external harddrive "WD My Book for Mac" on my powerbook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11. After returning back from vacation I forgot my password on my external harddrive. Does anyone know how to hack the external harddrive to reset the password or retrieve files? I can't access those files unless I unlock it with the password... any suggestions??

Did you encrypt the external hard drive with FileVault? If you did and forgot the password, you are out of luck. There's no way to recover those files unless you remember the password.
I know you're probably regretting doing so, but as a reminder, encryption can be an enemy as well as a friend. And most times folks encrypt when there is really no reason to do so. Sorry we can't be of more help. Regards. |
