Putting the computer to sleep

Does anyone know how I can close my macbook pro without it going into sleep?

That's generally not a good idea to do since it will retain more heat which is very bad for the Macbook Pro.

First choice (and the safe option) is Clamshell Mode

Next up on the list with the risk of damage due to overheating, esp if you forget that you have it awake while closed when in a case is insomniax
