Hey guys,

I have a Logitech Z-5300 (5.1 Surround Sound) system that was previously used on my old HP Media Center computer. The sound was great, and it worked like a charm.

Now, 1.5 years later with my Mac, I finally pulled the system out of my closet and plugged it into my MBP. The only thing is that I can only use the green cable. The Logitech system has three plugs, A green, orange, and black.

Is there something I can buy to plug into my computer so I get get full 5.1 sound??

Thanks!
James

Don't the orange and black plugs connect into the speakers to make it all work together?

I use a Griffin Firewave with my Creative 5.1 speakers. When I was transitioning from PC to Mac this was, and I think still, is the only solution for using speakers of this type.

Griffin, however, sadly discontinued it. The only place you'll find them is on eBay. griffin firewave items - Get great deals on Computers Networking items on eBay.com!

Good luck. Mine's been going for 4 years strong.

Do your Z-5300s have optical input?

If they do, you can buy a 3.5 mm-to-TOSLINK/Optical adaptor and plug in your Mac via optical audio to achieve 5.1

I too have been searching hard for a 5.1 surround sound adaptor to hook up my Logitech surround speakers (they have three 1/8 in inputs) to no avail. Why is this so hard?? I guess I'll look into the Griffin adaptor, although I heard that it no longer works under OS X 10.6. Does anybody know?
