I want to upgrade to the new 15" pro, the $1800 configuration.

I currently have the base 13" model that was "new" last year. Everything works flawlessly excluding the touchpad, which doesn't respond to physical clicks. Tap-to-click works fine, as do all the multi-touch functions.

As far as cosmetics, there's a tiny bit of scratching on the top cover but that's it. The screen is perfect, etc.

Any ballpark estimates?

Thanks!

2.26 Core 2 Duo
2 GB RAM
160GB HD
Leopard, but I'll obviously put Snow Leopard on

Everything else is just like the above, the very base model from last year.

With the broken touchpad, I would guess $550-$600 depending on whether or not you have the restore disks, box and accessories.

I would agree with the 500-600 value as is.

However a trackpad would cost $60, if you could install it yourself... if not you could probably find a shop that could install a new one for $100 plus the part or about $160.... and if you are selling a completely working macbook the price would rise to about $800-900

So you do the math. Frankly I would invest a bit to get it fully functioning before trying to sell it. The amount of a discount you would have to put on it to sell it as is would be pretty steep.

I have no idea how to install it myself. I've gotten as far as basically taking it out of the casing, but from there I'm at a loss. But I could definitely pay for the repair....

Just my opinion it's going to be easier and more profitable for you, to sell it as is,If you have it repaired you have to factor in not only the cost of the repair, But also your time the longer you have that machine the more it's costing you.
There are plenty of people on Craigslist who do nothing but buy broken Apple products.

Your suggestion speaks more to my laziness than my logic, but it speaks regardless. I approve.
