My Macbook Air seems to get really hot of late and the fan runs. This is even when I have very little running i.e. just mail and a browser. Is this an issue anyone else has come across. Is there a solution? Is it a problem?

Thanks

How long are you having the computer running at a time? Mine does that to me when I'm running graphics intensive programs, but that's only when. Also, do you have the laptop elevated at all? If you have it raised up, it will allow for more airflow for when the fans do run.

This seems to happen sometimes after only 30 mins running just safari with mail open in the background.....I will try and give it some ground clearance....seen other posts suggesting that if it doesn't shut down then it's fine....we will see.......thanks for your interest

Are you watching flash videos - like youtube or vimeo? These tends to use a lot of CPU cycles - or actually any flash will - so if the pages you are on have a lot of flash adds/graphics - you could see your CPU actually get hit a lot. Open Activity Monitor to see if you are using a lot of CPU.
