So I'm planning on buying a MacBook Pro, since my old MacBook is pretty much starting to fall apart. I recently got a new 500 GB 5400 RPM harddisk so I wondered if I could just stuff that in the MacBook Pro, because it would save me some money (about €120). So first: is it possible at all? Are they the same kind of harddisks? Will it fit? and Secondly: will I experience any trouble on the way (things not functioning, software issues, operating system troubles) because it is another laptop, or will it just start up as my old laptop?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can, but do you want to keep all the applications and documents from the old drive, or do you already have a Time Machine back-up?

I do have a time machine backup, but I'd rather keep the documents etc. from the old drive since putting them back on would just take more time Or isn't that possible?
