I deleted a large batch of RAW (.CR2) files of a recent photo shoot that I would like to recover.

I have searched all day long, or so it seems on a good program to accomplish this.

The one I purchased, Stellar Phoenix Photo Recover, did a horrible job. It only found six of the files I was searching for. Then when I went to open them up in Adobe Photoshop, I got about 1/6th of the photo open, and the rest of the photo was just yellow.

Any other recommendations?

I've already requested a refund from this company, I hope I get it.

I would give "Data Rescue III" a try. Download their trial copy to see if it works for you. If it does, buy a license. Also, why didn't you download Stellar Phoenix's trial copy first? I bought their "Bad Copy Pro" for Windows program some time back but made sure it worked first by using a trial copy.

Also, if you've been using the drive where those files were deleted from since you deleted them, they may be unrecoverable using any software.

Regards.

I tried out the trial version and found a file I was looking for, so then I purchased it.

Yet when I go use it, I cannot open up the photo files all the way.

I might try data rescue

It sounds like you may have already partially overwritten some of those files you're trying to recover. Give the Data Rescue III trial copy a go and see if it can do better. But as I stated previously, if any of those files have been overwritten or even partially overwritten, software is not going to work.

Let us know.

I'll give the Data Rescue a trial, but here is my question.

They only let you search for one file in the trial version.

I apologize, but how do I search for just one file?

I see all these files in my Adobe Lightroom, but I can't pull them up. This just makes me sick.

Can someone please answer my question about Data Rescue III before I purchase it?

The trial copy allows you to "see" the files but not recover them. Otherwise it would not be a free trial copy. You won't know the status of your files until you purchase the full version of Data Rescue III and recover them.

I know it can be a gamble especially since I suspect some of your files may have been partially overwritten, but it's better than paying an arm and a leg for a data recovery service to get them back for you.

Regards.
