hi

i have a really old 15" powerbook g4 (the titanium one) with only 256mb of memory and an 867mhz cpu

all i really do with this thing is browse the web when i'm away from my desktop, but even doing that can sometimes be painfully slow

would adding another 256mb stick noticably improve performance do you think? or is the cpu just too **** slow?

side question: if i were to have 512mb in my system, i would meet the minimum system requirements for Leopard.. should i even bother with it since i'm on such a slow machine?

thanks for any and all input

Hmm. RAM will help for sure, but the processor is the issue in the main. Leopard would be painful on that I reckon. Better off with Tiger, IMO.

At this point install as much ram as you can...in other words max out this Powerbooks ram. With at least 512meg of ram & the 867mhz processor...your Powerbook will meet the requirements for Leopard (barely).

Here the Leopard system requirements:

And it will handle 1GB memory so slot that in and try Leopard if you must, but as Kevriano says, you will have a much more responsive machine running Tiger OS X.4.
