I've got a strange problem that keeps happening on my MacBook screen (see attached pic). If i close the lid and open it again it disappears. It only happens on the desktop. Anyone got any ideas.....

Does it happen consistently? What version of OS X and are you up to date? How old is the Macbook? If it happens all the time and software is up to date, might be an early indication of graphics failure..which I believe will mean a logic board replacement at some point..

Regards

MacBooks 18 months old (white polycarb one) OS 10.6.3, always keep it upto date, Doesn't happen all the time. The strange thing is it only happens on the desktop, that is if I open any application it doesn't show through.

It's an odd alright, doesn't impact the menu bar . . . . .

It's nothing as simple as a corrupt background image is it? Does the same thing happen if you use a different image?
