Ok so today apple posted that there was a safety issue with ibook 12 inch&Powerbook 15 inch batteries purchased (worldwide) between October 2004 through May 2005. My ibook 12 inch I bought in November 2004 qualified. But my Dads Powerbook 15 inch didn't qualify even though he bought in May but near the end on May around the 25th.

Heres some info just so you can check if you qualify before you go and check there site (Which can for some reason even on broadband take awhile to load):

Computer model number Battery serial

12-inch iBook G4 A1061 HQ441 HQ507
12-inch PowerBook G4 A1079 3X446 3X510
15-inch PowerBook G4 A1078 3X446 3X509

Also heres a quick summary:

The recalled batteries include those with model numbers A1061, A1078, and A1079 and serial numbers that begin with HQ441 through HQ507 and 3X446 through 3X510. To view the model and serial numbers labeled on the bottom of the battery, you must remove the battery from the computer. The battery serial number is printed in black or dark grey lettering beneath a barcode. See photos below. Please use the chart below to identify the battery model and serial numbers that apply to your iBook or PowerBook.

And finally if your really sure heres the site (You can order the new one for free but you have to send in the old one):

Blame it on Apple for having such a small fonted reminder on their homepage, especially when with us 12" iBook/PowerBook owners who cannot see it unless we scroll down. It's been there for ages but I only received the e-mail like last week!

Mine gets warm, but I wouldn't say it overheats or it has warped.

Ya its extremely annoying especially since I don't get the email. I only saw it when I was scrolling down to watch the Steve Jobs keynote.

I did this program and evrything went smoothly (I was worried they had to take my iBook and take the battery out) and they send you a new battery.
