I do not know if anyone else has had this issue before but here it goes.

For about a months now, every 8-10 mins my I will lose internet access to my macbook. The solution is to close the computer and reopen it, or turn airport off and then on. This allows me another 10 mins of internet access.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? If so I would really appreciate some assistance.

Make sure you're using WPA or WPA2 with any Mac less than 3 yrs old.
Don't use a hidden SSID.
Check for a firmware update for your router.

If the above doesn't work, then I would go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced and blow away all the networks you have in the Preferred box and start afresh.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.

I had/have the same problem but have determined that its not my airport rather it is my crappy AT&T DSL. Its not completely AT&T's fault though I live out in the boonies where they have never heard of fiber optic cables. So your internet reliability could be the root of the issue. An easy way to check this is to connect to the internet via hardline i.e. unplug your airports ethernet and connect it to your mac. If the connection continues to be unreliable it is your internet service provider. If it is great it is the settings in your airport. Simple test that does not involve advanced settings on your airport.
