Ok, so I have a couple .avi movies all in one file on my computer. Some of the preview images on the files are very similar, so I was wondering if there was any way to change them so they look different (ie. put the dvd artwork as the preview image)

It is very easy to change the icons in Mac OS X. This short guide explains how its done.
And if you change a lot of icons, Candybar is an excellent application for this purpose.
