My 17" g4 1.5ghz powerbook superdrive stopped working. It won't load a disc, and when I hold the eject button no logo shows up on the screen. Should I assume it's a power connection? What do you suggest? I don't want to send it to apple for a month or more, but if I ahve to I will.

Turn unit on Hold down (I believe it's) SHIFT-CMD-P-R before the startup chime. Hold it down until you hear two more chimes then release. Once it boots up try your CD again. Also try using Disk Utility in Apps > Utilities > Disk Utility to verify it sees the disk in the drive. It should show a mounted disc in the drive list in the upper left corner. Good luck, let us know how you turn out. |
