I have a 15" Macbook Pro, about a year and a half old.

When I turn the computer on, the white screen with the Mac logo comes on, as if it is powering on, but then turns to a black screen and remains idle.

Anything at all I can do?

I had this same problem with my powerbook. What I found out was that the hard drive was fried and it couldnt find the operating system.

Not saying this is what happened to you. Just a warning to prepare in case of the worst.

your hard drive is dead. best/only way to check it out is to boot from or install cd and run diskutility it will probably say your drive's SMART chip says your drive is dying, if not it will fix it.
if diskutil does not fix it, you maybe able to recover your files by putting the drive in an external usb case and running ether disk warrior, disk utility, it may just pop up.
QUOTE Thanks
