I have developed a small crack on the right side of my 15" macbook pro's LCD screen, which has resulted in a black strip up the right side of the screen.

I wonder if there is a way to reduce the size of my screen so that the black strip doesn't hide any of the screen? It'll make my screen a bit smaller, but at least I'll still have full control and won't have to keep hooking up to an external monitor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi TattoedMac,

Yeah, that I know.

What I mean, I want to render the right hand side of my screen completely useless. No wallpaper showing there, no nothing. In other words, change the size of the screen. No just the size of Safari or Word or something.

IOW, I have a 15", can I make it like it's a 13"? Or a 12"? Is it possible to shrink the visible screen so that the black strip doesn't block anything?

But thanks for the try!

I'm on a 13" but if I change to display in system prefs, I chops the left and right, which would suit your need.
Being 15", just change it to 1024 x 768, and if that doesn't work, tinker around with the options until you get the right size for the 15"
