Thanks, everybody! Just 1 follow up!

How would the 2.66 GHZ vs. 2.8 Ghz processors impact my work? I was going to bump up to 8GB of RAM and want to understand how the processors would impact workload in something like Logic Studio for multi-track editing. Is it worth the extra $400 for extra Ghz or the extra $600 for the Ram? If I had to pick 1 - which would impact my work more?

Thanks again, guys and gals!

Forget about the ram...Apple has always charged way too much for ram. You can upgrade the ram yourself later at a much lower price.

Just focus on processor speed. The dif. between 2.66 & 2.8 will most likely not be noticable. So get the 2.66...unless the 2.8 other noteworthy features such as better graphics hardware.

I'm thinking the RAM probably, my brother uses iMovie heavily with multiple tracks, has 4gb and always runs out of memory. I can't wait to upgrade mine, I'm just waiting till the price of 8gb is more reasonable.

Going with pigoo here. Unless you absolutely need the hardware on the 2.8, go for the 2.66. Don't buy RAM from Apple. Go to OWC, Newegg, or Crucial to buy RAM. I have heard lots of positive comments about OWC, and I have seen some good deals at Newegg.

Does adding RAM void the apple care warranty? I normally buy warranties on new computers. I take it that the people who add RAM on their own typically do not. Should I skip the warranty?

Thanks in advance!

ram and hdd up-grades are Apple approved and as such will not void Apple Care.

Can anybody post a link to RAM that I would use to install in a new Macbook Pro? I'm trying to get an idea of pricing.
