Atleast three week old powerbook owners. Is a slight looseness to be expected? I mean its not "battery popping out loose" But when I first got it, it was as tight as... tight. I mean everything was stiff and I have owned it for a week and a few days now and its gotten looser...significantly

I havent had problems with mine and its 6 months old now. I would call apple while you can and have them either send a replacement or fix it.
