Ok, obviously I know they may be coming out with a new MacBook Pro 'any day now', possibly with the i5 chip instead of Core 2 Duo. Here is my question. Lets say I am in the apple store now and build the MacPro I like and it costs $2,800. Lets say in a week the i5 version comes out. Will that Mac with the same upgrades as the one I just bought still be $2,800, or because it is now a i5 instead of Core2 cost $3,400? (Just an example of a price)

In summary. If I build a mac today and buy will the "new version" cost more tomorrow? I would imagine yes.

To my knowledge and my experience, itll cost the same. Don't hold me to it.

uMBP 15.4" 2.4 Ghz/4GB RAM/250 GB, uMBP 13.3" 2.53 Ghz/4GB RAM/500 GB, iPhone 4 (Black), iPhone 3GS (Black)

Dang I was just looking for a reason to order the new MacBook Pro tonight. :-) lol. But if they may cost about the same I might as well hold out until whenever the new ones are released.

I want to get the 8gb/ 500gb version. However, I'll probably buy it as a 4gb/ 500gb version and upgrade by buying two 4gb sticks myself.

Are you willing to hold out for months? Because no matter what anyone tells you or thinks they know, the MBPs could be released in a few weeks or in several months. And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I read somewhere online (should've bookmarked it) that the new chips cause units to run hotter and they eat more battery life...

Yeah I heard the same thing, I also read an article saying it should still have 7hr battery life. Not sure how but who knows. I just can't stop debating on what to do lol..... The current ones don't have a firewire correct?

The current MBPs have a firewire.

If you need a MBP right now, go ahead and get it.

You could be waiting for 10 years for those chips to come out, (you never know what Apple is going to do).

I second this. I love my new MBP. If Apple released updated ones tomorrow, I'd have no regrets about my recent purchase. It works wonderfully and does everything I need.

No I don't really 'need one' but I am probably going to upgrade. Right now I have a macbook pro from 2005 that only can max out with 2gb of ram.... On top of that I would like more harddrive space ON the computer along with the ability to run a lot smoother. Buying one is basically a graduate school graduation present to myself lol. I'll probably think about it until tonight and then do it unless someone can somehow convince me not to :-).

If this helps at all

You better wait the same way I'm waiting.

What if they come with USB 3.0?

what if they come with a bigger ram same price and bigger solid state same price????

Don't buy it, wait the same way I'm doing it right now.

I looking every day for the new system and I'm almost about to shoot myself, I can not make my new videos because my all Macbook 2006 it is just a toy what what I need.

Let's wait together if this helps.

Yeah, I have decided to wait because even if it is JUST a new i5 chip I would rather have that than the Intel Core 2 Duo because it will be the new industrial standard.

I have a 2005 MacBook pro that works fine now, I'm just wanting to upgrade and am hoping it comes soon lol. Either way I'll have a new MacBook and then I can either sell the first one or have 2 MacBook Pros! lol. That would be fun.

I could not wait any longer the logic board was going bad in my 2006 MBP so in December got the 2.53ghz MBP and now I am glad I did the battery life is great its faster
and runs cool enough to set directly on my lap as opposed to needing a TV tray for the old one due to heat. If you need one get it I doubt you will be disappointed if yours is working satisfactory then hold out.

Yeah honestly I have no problems with mine right now.
Mine is 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo with 2GB of ram. It can't hold any more ram sadly. So I should be ok to wait until the new one is released. I have an itchy trigger finger for the purchase but I will be strong lol.
