Hey folks, im new to this here forum, just was wondering if anyone can help me sort a few issues?

They aren't anything huge just me being picky :-P

I have an Apple Macbook, just the standard bottom of the range model which to this day still is the best £700.00 ive ever spent! ive used it everyday for at least 2 years and ive never had a problem.

Tho, lately ive seen it start to get a little jittery and slow down a wee bit, i do understand i will need to buy some ram and if anyone could recommend what to get that this would be very helpfull, also not sure if there is a 'D-clogging' routine to delete unwanted and uneeded apps/programs/cookies?

You can really tell i know what im talking about eh? :-P

The other thing is i really wish i bought a cover for the shell because the front is so bloomin' scratched up now! Do we know of any polish that would buffer some of these war wounds off?

And finally, do you guys worry about keeping the keyboard area clean? My MacBook is unfortunately not glossy so it gets dirty pretty quick, would a wet wipe be the best thing to use on it?

Well thats enough of me yabbering on i think, i really appreciate anyone that can help me with any of the above :-)

Thanks!

Robby

You can check out this guide for your performance issues: Slow Mac Performance? Learn How To Solve It

To recommend any type of new RAM we need to know what model of MacBook you have. Open up System Profiler and paste the text you see there here.

If you want more ram go to crucial.com/uk they have a tool that checks your system and lets you know what's compatible etc. Prices are pretty competitive too. But Once you have the details you could always look elsewhere.

Download and install Onyx for your version of OSX Titanium Software
Run the Maintenance scripts to give your mac a bit of a clear out!

There are various plastic polishes on the market (perhaps others can suggest a brand) or maybe consider a gel skin(for the lid)?

I use a Magic Eraser Sponge (from JML or similar). It's a really fine grain sponge. Very very little moisture, or even none at all, needed. Get all the keys and wrist pad area clean.

Hope some of that helps.

as for cleaning...... I turn off the MB, I use small amount of dishwashing liquid in a glass with warm water. dip a tea towel in, and ring out excess water so it's moist (not wet) and wipe each key until it is white.
I must emphasize "moist and not wet"
You don't want it to be anything that will not dry instantly!
It takes patience but you can get the keyboard and casing looking fresh by doing this.
Once again emphasis on "moist, not wet!!!"

Also, I'd stay away from any key guards (clear skins) that people may recommend, as they restrict the airflow, and can cause more harm than good.
The space between the keys and the casing allow for airflow from around the keys to the vents at the rear.
It is like having a window partially open and another fully open, which allows airflow in the house
