Powerbook G4 Battery stuck in computer.

The turn button button does nothing. I brought it to an apple "genius" and he said the only way to get it out was to buy a $300-400 case replacement for them to install. The button turns with no resistance and the battery is stuck in the laptop. Does anybody know of any way to get it out? Currently it has only 20-30 minutes of useful battery life and I planned on buying a new battery.

Do you know if there are any good external batteries? I'll rarely be taking this out of my house (I have a primary PC), but when I do, I'd like a little more battery life.
