best portable external hd to buy with my macbook 10.5.7

need to purchase a protable external drive for my macbook, 10.5.7 OS.
Recommendations are greatly appreciated.

freeagent external harddrives from seagate use firewire, which might interest you.

thanks for the suggestion, but the macbook only has usb ports, no firewire

ah, sorry about the confusion. i use western digital passports for my usb external harddrives. never had a problem, and very affordable.

One option I would suggest would be to replace the HDD that's in your MB with a bigger and faster one. Then buy an external enclosure ($10-20) for your existing drive. Agian, just an idea.

That's what I did, investin. I gave that old drive and an enclosure to my GF to use as a backup.
