I've got an 06' macbook, and purchased a mini dvi to s-video out for my sony bravia to watch my movies, i was just watching my movie until the screen started scrolling repeatedly on its own. What can this be? I tried both the rca out and the s-video out and both give the same prob.

That sounds like the Horizontal Hold control on the TV. Of course I'm thinking back many years, and assuming it would be the same on a modern HDTV.

Try checking Display Resolution set in Sys Prefs - u may find that another choice will be better.
