I'm an avid video editor.
Since I am on the macbook black, I can't use Final cut so I use Premiere and After Effects.

Questions:
1. When on after effects I can not turn on OpenGL which makes previewing much faster. Why is this? What do I have to download or configure?
2. When on After Effects it only recognizes 3GB of ram when I just upgraded from 2GB to 4GB. Why is this, what should I do?

I'm using CS4.

Please help!

Computer:
Macbook 5'th Generation (Black)

1. Because you have an Intel GMA 950

2. All MacBooks prior to Nov 1, '07; will recognize 4 GB, but the hardware does not have the capability of using more than 3GB.

Even as short a time ago as 2-3 years, the average computer user wasn't even considering more than 1-2GB of RAM in their machines.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

So I basically wasted 50$?

The extra GB of ram won't do anything?

wasted ?? I put 4GB in my MBP. I did know it wouldn't actually use but 3GB when I bought it. It is reported to maintain dual channel capability this way, which you would not have with a 1GB and 2GB stick. Whether it does or not - ??- don't know of a way to verify it.

System Profiler will report that you have 4GB installed. Other than that, sorry, it won't do anything.
