How much RAM does my MB support?

Just a quick question for anyone out there who knows. I have a macbook pro 2.33 / 17inch (march / april 2007 model) and currently have 2gb of ram installed. I'm looking to upgrade the amount but i'm not sure whether mine supports 3gb or 4gb. I seem to remember 3gb sticking in my mind from when I bought it but if anyone could help me out it would be most appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.

- Texas, where else?
- 15" MBP '06 2.33 C2D 4GB 10.7; 13" MBA '11 1.8 i7 4GB 10.10; 21" iMac '13 2.9 i5 8GB 10.10; 5s & 5c
That model will recognize that 4 GB are installed, but it can only use 3 GB.
You can put 4 GB in the machine, what I did in mine (supposedly it will maintain dual channel mode that way).I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
