When will the new MBP's come out

I'm was going to get a MBP for my birthday in December. However I'm having second thoughts.

I don't want to buy a MBP only for it to be out dated in 6 weeks after purchase.

What are the likely improvements for the next MBP's?

By the way i'm gonna get the 13" MBP.

When do you think it will come out? I was thinking Feb 2010

Thanks in advance,

Tomo

If there are going to be updates, they will most likely come this month. If not this month, then you're looking at sometime in the Spring. Only Apple knows for certain.

The best time to purchase a new Apple computer (and avoid buyers remorse due to newer models being launched soon after you buy)...is RIGHT AFTER they launch updated models that you're interested in!

As far as when a specific model line will be updated or launched...only Apple knows this.

would be good if it came out in the next month, but isn't 5 months a short cycle.

Then again, what improvements were made from the previous incarnations, when the current MBP's were introduced. To my understanding, not much

For years Apple has updated its notebook line twice a year. Once in April/May and once in October/November. So I would say no, five months is not a short cycle.

"outdate"...

Buying any of the new mac computers, that are out right now, will last you longer than you need...being outdated is something I am willing to bet you will not experience...well, unless you keep it for like 10 years!! Seriously though, I don't think you know these computer's potential well enough! Unless it's not really the "outdated" part yyou are talking about and more of the "newest on the market!

That's very true. Even if a new one comes out a month after you buy one right now, the machine you have will still last you many, many years. I bought my Macbook back in December 2006. It's been almost three years and it's actually better now than it was then because of Snow Leopard, and I know this thing is going to keep running strong for several more years. You can expect to get at least 4-5 years out of an Apple laptop, so don't worry about it being outdated anytime soon.

They will update the line the week after you decide to buy a new one. That is how technology works. :-P I bought mine in April 2009 knowing full well that they were going to release a new MacBook update during May. I needed a laptop, but could have waited. I just wanted my own new computer then, so I got it then.

Imo, if you need a laptop now, then buy it right now. Just because Apple releases a new mpb say in Dec or Spring, it doesnt mean the one you buy now will be crap and useless.

they did just update the White Macbook to a uni-body. and the iMac went to a 21" and a 27" screen sizes. The macbook Airs havent been changed in a while....im curious to see what they would look like next. But as far as the Macbook Pro, they have changed little things over the year. (adding and removing the express card slot, changing ports, making it unibody, adding SD card slot)

Just me thinking, but i would venture to say after the first of the year around tax season...hoping to get more customers that get their tax returns to invest in newer/updated systems.
