Ive been having this problem for a while now and its getting very annoying, my mac started making these weird clicking and crackling noises and while this happens i have no audio and if i have a video running it stops. In the system pref..in audio the sign keeps switching from built-in audio to headphones while this noise is happening. has anyone else had this problem or anyone knows how to fix it, please help because im about to throw this mac out the window. Thanks in advance

I think I have a similar issue, about 2 weeks ago my sound started crackling every now and again and it was annoying but bearable. However since then it has become worse and alot more frequent as when listening to music or mainly watching videos the sound will start going in slower motion along with the video with more crackling noises making it impossible to do either.

I have tried a couple of things including unplugging my display (which I got around-ish the same time this started happening) and my external speakers but all without change.

One more thing to mention; I did spill a very small amount of milk slightly on and near my macbook 3 or 4 days ago but this issue did arise slightly before. I managed to clear it up pretty quickly and everything else is running fine (which is why i considered not mentioning this as you might just put the problems down on this but i'm pretty sure it wasn't this that caused it, not 100% though).

I have similar specs, 13" 10.5.8 2.16ghz 2gb ram
Any help will be greatly appreciated
