This might sound so naive, but I have a Macbook with 2GB of memory. Could I just upgrade by buying the other 2GB or do I have to buy the whole 4GB together? Thank in advance.

Well I would about bet that it came with two 1GB sticks of RAM. The Macbook you have can support up to (I believe) 4GB. So, yes if you want to upgrade to 4GB then you will have to buy two sticks of 2GB RAM. Here is a nice little guide showing you how to do it.
