Battery question

Is it bad to keep my macbook pro plugged in all the time?

Apple suggests that you charge ur Macbook Pro when you need to... something about keeping the electrons flowing continously.

My MacBook is used primarily as a desktop machine, however, I discharge and recharge it once a month. As the Apple article says, keep the electrons flowing. I have an older Toshiba notebook that I purchased in 2003. The battery is still the original and can go about an hour and half. Pretty good for an old battery. :)

Regards.

It's not "bad".
The built-in charging circuitry will keep from over-charging the batteries.
The new Lithium based batteries are not like the old NiCads - they don't get memories.
But, they do fail - a lot. If you are always plugged in, you won't know you have a bad battery until you need it.
If you want, you could remove the battery completely and run off the AC adapter. Some people do that after their battery is so fried, it hogs all the power from the AC adapter and makes the laptop hot.

LiON or not, never cycling a battery is not beneficial to the batteries over all life. See the aforementioned link to Apples statement for more information.

Just cycle it once a month. That way you will have a good battery for a long time if your needs change and you need to run on battery power.
