So I have a 1.5 Powerbook 15 inch. I am wondering why when you close the screen, it doesn't close completely. Like there is a little crack. It doesn't completely touch the bottom of the computer when you close it. I know its only a few millimeters, but it seems like it shouldn't be that way. Anybody else have this problem?

This is common with PB, you can buy, don't know the link, little plastic stickums that balance the distance evenly around the powerbook. Some have complained that closing the lid too much will cause the screen to be impressed the keys.

Yeah, I noticed my 17" PB doesn't close all the way either. I think it is the keyboard. It rises a bit over the top of the shell, and for me, is about equal to the extra amt. that my PB is open.

oh okay. I also read people ahve keyboard marks on the screen. So I guess this is to prevent that? I dont have any marks and don't know if it is pressing against it when it is closed, but my guess is that it isn't.

I honestly believe that the reason this is done is to avoid keyboard marks on the LCD, as stated above. Well, best way to be safe from this in any way is to use the following product. I've heard many great things about it, and probably getting it myself too.

I put a rectangle of silk over all my keys. Not sure if it does anything, but at least the keys aren't in direct contact w/ the screen.

I don't think the keys do touch the screen when it is closed, I tried putting a little piece of the sticky part of a post it note on the key and closed it so the sticky side was up and would adhere to the screen, but it didnt do it. So hopefully thats a good sign. But I don't close my screen too often anyway.

I see that I am not the only one that place a silk cloth between the screen and the keyboard.

This was a problem they had more on the eariler powerbooks.. the only problems i have seen latley is where people have the powerbook in a sleave and it forces it closed all the way..But once againb this can be prevented with a peice of softfabric in the middle

I've had my 15 inch powerbook in the sleeve from radtech, for about 2 months, and no signs of marks on the screen yet, i hope it stays that way...

As stated above, the screensavrz product from Radtech works great. The look good and perfectly fit the keyboard of your size of powerbook. They are also used to clean your display with. The material is ultra-soft and gets your screen looking perfect while protecting it at the same time. Here is a picture:

You can get them at www.radtech.us

hey, it does make sense though. If you are going to put some sort of cloth between it, why not silk? It's pretty, comfy to touch, soft (no risk of scratching the screen).... lol
