MacBook Pro - Disappearing icons?

A couple times now, random icons have disappeared from my dock. First it was iTunes, then another program that I had downloaded (that one was completely deleted actually) and then it was safari. This last time, I had just downloaded and installed a Java update. On the restart, safari was gone. Not sure if the other missing icons were after updates or not.

Anyone else experience this?

Apps appear in Dock while open - if u want them to stay or to get rid of them right click on icon and select Keep in Dock or Remove from dock as needed. If u need an app and it is not in the dock then open applications folder on HD and run it and then icon will appear in dock temporarily until u select keep in dock

Thanks for the help... But what I am saying is that applications that were already located on the dock (like Safari, and iTunes) and they had ALWAYS been there, suddenly were missing, and I did not choose to remove them from the dock. The other application I had attached to the dock and, not only was it removed from the dock, it was removed from the computer completely.
