Hey guys, I have a 2.2ghz MBP with 4GB memory. It's probably 2 years old. Anyway, I just bought a new battery today at the Apple store and right off the bat I calibrated it. However in Coconutbattery it shows maximum capacity 5600mAh but current capacity 5572mAh.
Is this to be expected with a brand new battery or should I go back and get another? Thanks! Tim |

I don't think that I would worry about it. I have a MacBook that when I run Coconut Battery...it actually shows the battery as having more than the stated maximum capacity by about 50-60mAh. I know that all manufactured items have specifications that they must meet. In this case (a laptop battery) has a specification for maximum battery capacity...lets say this spec. is 5600mAh. Most likely in the manufacturing plant...there is a specification for the batteries that a certain percentage of all the batteries produced in a certain time frame (a manufacturing "lot") must meet this 5600mAh spec. Let's just guess for discussions sake that this percentage is 85%....or that 85% of the batteries made must have a max. capacity of 5600mAh or more. Then there could be a secondary specification that says that 95% of the batteries must have a maximum capacity between 5550 to 5650mAh...or +/- 50mAh from the 5600mAh spec. Thus your battery is slightly below the specified maximum capacity...and my battery is slightly above the maximum capacity...but both technically fall within the manufacturing specification range. Hope this helps...probably MUCH more info than you were looking for!!! - Nick |
