So If I get the same specifications (that can be set)

Is the extra approximately 150 Euro worth:

the extra USB port - I'm worried that 2 won't be enough, and a USB hub won't supply enough power to run all the things on it at once, will it?

the extra pixils - I'd much prefer full HD

Extra battery life - I will be using it on battery quite a lot. Does it actually make much difference?

+ anything else it has I don't know about?

Waiting for the game that takes full advantage of a 124bit, 3.5GHz, 8-core, 64Gig-RAM system.

Well there's the obvious size difference.

The 17" MBP has an AWESOME display (lots of "real estate" to work with)...but it's a bit bulky.

I don't have a 15" MBP...but I have a 13" MB and a 17" MBP...and man what a difference when it comes to portability & weight!!

How often will you travel with it? If the answer is "rarely", go with the 17". If "frequently", go with the 15", that's pretty much all there is to it

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

Or if it will usually sit in your lap while watching the tube - 17" is too big.

Hey...that's what I do all of the time...in fact that's what I'm doing now as I'm typing this!

It's a little big for that...but if you're not moving around too much it's ok.

But I do agree with the above post...the 17" is a bit large for taking with you when traveling...15" is much better for that.

I'll be taking it to school, which is why it needs to be a laptop, but I'll be kinda using it as a desktop at either end ...

I don't intend to be using it everywhere I go, though I tend to move it about the house a lot.

Waiting for the game that takes full advantage of a 124bit, 3.5GHz, 8-core, 64Gig-RAM system.

I had the 17 for a couple years and it became such a pain to carry around. Also, like the Mod said....sitting around with it on your lap is uncomfortable too. It's big, heavy, and gets very hot.

Sold it and now have a 13 Pro....haven't looked back..

If you think that you may run out of ports...get a USB hub like this:

4-Port Octopus USB 2.0 Hub, Black

Hey don't start with this line of logic...or pretty soon we will start hearing the stories of 10 mile walks to school, with no shoes, in 12 inches of snow...all the while dodging lion, tiger, and bear attacks!!!

so does it need no extra power to run 4 things off one original port?

Well...I think that you need to be careful how much stuff you plug in. Just because you have a USB hub with 4, 6, or 8 ports...doesn't automatically mean you can plug in 4, 6, or 8 USB items.

But if you have two USB ports on a laptop...and you need a 3rd or a 4th port...that is probably fine.

I think that if you're plugging in low power USB items (like external mice)...you will probably be fine...or maybe 1 external USB hard drive such as this:

Western Digital 500GB My Passport for Mac - Apple Store (U.S.)

I usually don't plug many USB items into my MBP...but I think that the computer will give you a warning if you exceed the power limits of a USB port. Or if the USB item needs too much power...it simply won't work.

Here's a VERY detailed article on USB ports:

Universal Serial Bus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Scroll down about 3/4ths of the way...and there's a section titled "Power". Probably more info than you wanted!
