I'm looking at getting a Macbook Pro. Wondering if anyone has purchased refurbs off the Apple site?

I've bought three iPods this way and they look brand new. The only thing different is the box they come in.

However spending $1,200 on a notebook vs. $99 on an iPod is a big difference.

So I'm just wondering if anyone has positive or negative feedback. Thx.

I have dealt with several refurbs and have NEVER had a problem. Like you said - different box and cheaper price. That is it!

Go for it, all positive experiences by me. My iMac, 3 iPods, and a 24" cinema display were all outlet purchases and there was never a problem. You get the same warranty and save money, so there is really nothing to lose. The only reason I got my MBP from the regular retail side is that I had to have it right now and it just came out so the outlet was not an option.

Go for it!...remember, all Apple refurbished computers come with a 12 month warranty...which helps guard against any manufacturing defects.

Had my refurb'd MacBook for a year now, and had no hardware problems. I'm quite satisfied.

Just bought a Macbook Pro from the Refurb store ...it's fine except after initially connecting to the Internet OK it now won't connect at all. Not even after turning off the computer & back on again several times.

The old Ibook connects fine so that's what I'm using now! The same settings are on each so why won't the new one connect? The only other thing added is a trial download of IWorks. Since then, it won't connect. Would that have anything to do with it?

We have a wireless modem as we're travelling in a caravan, using Next G BigPond Broadband.

We're completely stumped & would appreciate ideas. Thanks.

If you think iWork trial is the problem, make a backup then uninstall. If it works, great, you know the problem. If not, you can put it back from the backup

Waiting for the game that takes full advantage of a 124bit, 3.5GHz, 8-core, 64Gig-RAM system.

I did that already and it fixed the problem for the next time we connected.
Then the following time the wireless software lost the IP address and the modem's data send/receive light was hard on. iWork still not reinstalled.

If your profile is correct..."In a caravan somewhere in Australia"...is probably not ideal conditions for connecting to the internet!
