Help!!! I'm terrified :S.

Today my macbook decided not to charge! It will not turn on when it's not plugged in. If I plug it in, it's fine. If I unplug it, it shuts off immidiately. The little icon on top says "not charging" and that I have 0% of power left. The megasafe is bright green. I don't know what's going on. I barely use this macbook. Please don't tell me I need a new battery???

If I take it to apple store, will they help? I'm pretty sure it's out of warranty. I bought it in December 2007. I barely used it.

It does sound like your battery may be defective. If you purchased your MacBook in Dec 2007 it's out of warranty unless you opted for Apple care. However, since Apple care does not cover batteries anyway, you would still have to buy a new one.

Regards.

From what I've heard, is when a Macbook has'nt been used for a long time the battery almost surely is rendered unusable.
In fact that has been my problem as well, have had a macbook that showed the green magsafe light but did'nt charge one bit due to sitting in a cupboard for a few months.
I looked around for a new battery but ended up buying a new Mac...

Good luck on your quest...
