Yesterday, I installed a new HDD and more ram in my MBP 13". All went well I am happy to say. I did want to remind others ( this is not mentioned in any videos on the whole procedure) to obviously not over tighten the screws when placing the bottom piece back on the machine. Stripping the screws or the holes themselves is not something anyone wants to do, and Apple is not responsible for any damage in that regard. With good care and a gentle touch this machine is great with the above noted upgrades.

Over-tightening fasteners (nuts, bolts, screws)...is something a lot of do-it-yourselfer's are guilty of. This applies to computer projects or even on much much larger nuts, bolts, and screws like you find on automobiles.

Of course with such small hardware on computers...it's really easy to over-torque.

The trick is to use the proper size tool (not too big), and then taking it easy.

Agreed. The right tool helps tremendously. I think a lot of people make the mistake of using small standard Phillips drivers. A good set of precision screw drivers (or bits) will make everything much easier.

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
