My MBP gets real hot real fast so the fan kicks on and gets really loud and it's non-stop (located underneath the power button, correct?). Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Get a cooling mat?

What exactly are you doing to make the computer get hot? It takes a lot of applications open for mine to go full blast.

Agreed, not normal at all. Keep it off of soft furnishings/laps (just because it's a laptop, it doesn't mean it will work fine on one!)
You could try something like SMC fan controller, but it would be better to get to the bottom of why they are kicking in so quickly.
