Well I got my new MBP....
17" Glossy Screen 2.93 Core 2 Duo 8 GB ram and well here is the issue. The mini-display port is not working correctly. I have tried 2 apple adapter and one from monoprice. All are the mini-display to dvi adapters. They will turn the secondary monitor on for a few minutes or not at all. Now when I go to the display properties in the system preferences it SHOWs the two screens (Color LCD and the other external screen) properties etc. If I do a hard reboot of the computer, it will SOMETIMES recognize turn on the external screen. Coming and going via the sleep more does nothing to change it. Anyone else experience anything like this? Go to System Preferences > Energy Saver and then select 'Higher Performance' instead of 'Better Battery Life'. OS X will then change the graphics card to one with dedicated memory (it has two) which solves the problem some people have with their external screens (it does with me). This means that you RAM is freed up for applications as the dedicated graphics card has it's own memory.
To change back, just select 'Better Battery Life'. Dedicated card will use up battery life quicker and so you only really want to use it when you are performing graphic intensive tasks or plugged into your external display or power supply. |
